Below I have outlined the organizations I have worked and volunteered for, which have afforded me opportunities in athletic communications, journalism, customer service and mission-driven nonprofit organizations that empower children and their families through extraordinary opportunities.

Freelance Marketing & Web Specialist

Boston University's Center for Stuttering Therapy

Boston, MA​

         Currently, I am leading website marketing objectives and owned media strategies for the Center for Stuttering Therapy (CST) at Boston University’s Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences. By developing a user-friendly CST website outlining client testimonials and the Center’s clinical services for stuttering, I am earning a 115% increase in Adult Group Therapy clients from spring 2024 to fall 2024.

         Specifically, I am creating and maintaining web pages to promote the Center's advocacy, highlight its holistic approach to speech therapy, proactively answer FAQsamplify clinicians’ support for clients and showcase community engagement

         I am further enhancing the CST’s owned media channels by writing 4 Spring and Fall 2024 semester stories on the Sargent College website. These stories highlight clients' journeys and CST events such as a campus visit by an NBA player-turned-nonprofit founder to promote the university as a national leader in stuttering research and civic engagement.

Special Olympics Massachusetts

Boston, MA

       Currently, I am using my community outreach, photography and marketing skills to grow enrollment of Special Olympics programs in Boston and gateway cities. By collaborating with local leaders and the Special Olympics MA Director of Inclusive Youth City Programs, I am supporting the organization’s goal of raising awareness among local families and community partners such as the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester and BioTech companies headquartered in Cambridge. 

        Through my research and interviews with key stakeholders, I am writing web and newsletter stories promoting the annual Summer Games at Harvard University and year-round programs providing healthful outcomes for children with intellectual disabilities.

Tidepool

Remote (Linwood, NJ)

        Through this hybrid position, I supported copy editing needs of a start-up New Jersey Shore tourism and community business app, Tidepool. Developed by Kaitlyn Fox and Robert Teresi, the app is now available on the Apple App Store. This ultimate Jersey Shore vacation app streamlines users’ travel and beach experience with hassle-free equipment rentals, local insider tips for the best restaurants and activities, and real-time town maps featuring hours and addresses for local businesses.

        To support the app’s interactive map, I created brief descriptions of more than 150 local businesses and wrote reviews of family-owned restaurants to create a user-friendly experience for the target audience of locals and seasonal visitors of all ages.

Little League International

Williamsport, PA

        Throughout this hybrid experience, I supported storytelling across digital, social, web, and broadcast media channels for the world's largest youth sports organization. Collaborating with senior Marketing & Communications executives, I archived key sportsmanship moments, baseball highlights and softball highlights to LittleLeague.org during broadcasts on ESPN’s linear and streaming platforms. Additionally, I supported social media content creation on Little League accounts on TikTok (785.6K views), Instagram (25K likes), Facebook (63K views), YouTube (6.5K views) and X (237 likes).

         Furthemore, I showed initiative in completing tasks beyond my position’s responsibilities by writing web stories. Using WordPress, I published stories spotlighting community leaders, outstanding volunteers and youth softball athletes. On site at the 75th Little League Baseball World Series, I maximized the fan experience by filming videoboard footage using wired and wireless digital cameras and operating TriCaster and MotionRocket broadcast equipment in Lamade Stadium's control room. 

        While in Williamsport, I reported to Little League's Sr. Director of Communications, Sr. Communications Executive, Director of Social and Digital Strategy, and Director of Web and Emerging Technologies. I worked alongside these leaders and seasonal media staff colleagues to highlight the summer’s unique Little League Baseball and Softball stories of more than 500 youth athletes from 16 countries competing in 8 world tournaments.

Digital Content Director, Sports PR Summit

         As digital content director, I led a team of 10 social and digital media strategists promoting the annual Sports PR Summit in Manhattan. Through this leadership position, I researched global journalism, PR and advertising trends and published concise recaps of the event’s keynote panel discussions. Prior to the event, I conducted virtual interviews with the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award honorees from Nike and ESPN. Through these conversations, I produced feature stories and created social media content for event sponsors (ESPN and Morgan Stanley) highlighting career excellence in diversity, equity and inclusion. 

         This role also enabled me to explore timely sports industry topics such as NIL in collegiate athletics, media access of athletes during the COVID-19 pandemic, NASCAR’s commitment to social justice and the state of women’s sports amid the 50th anniversary of Title IX. Through my research and interactions with key stakeholders, I developed a content calendar to ensure maximum reach across social media, earned media channels, the summit’s website and the SPRS internal communications platform.

        Notably, I enhanced the event’s national reputation and ability to attain professional sports commissioners and Edward R. Murrow Award-winning journalists such as Tom Rinaldi as keynote speakers.

         While completing my master’s degree at Syracuse, I created and pitched an integrated marketing campaign to FOX Sports executives, promoting the network's exclusive presentation of the 2022 MLB at Field of Dreams Game. 

         In achieving client’s goals of increasing national awareness of the flagship game and earning 3 million linear TV viewers, I conducted audience demographic research and created event promotion strategies for paid, earned, shared and owned media channels. Specifically, my campaign tactics engaged national and Midwest region viewers, with an emphasis on Chicago and Cincinnati media markets, by promoting athletes’ personal backgrounds, spotlighting key father-son storylines and enhancing FOX on-air talent’s engagement with target audiences.

S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University

          While earning my master’s degree from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, I was selected for a merit scholarship teaching assistant for a required PR Ethics course in the undergraduate curriculum.

          In my TA position, I took pride in supporting the learning experience of 125 students enrolled in the course across two semesters. My weekly responsibilities included holding office hours with students, creating quiz questions, moderating discussion posts, grading written and in-class participation, managing attendance, and creating course management documents on Google Workspace. 

I further assisted the course professor by facilitating student discussions focused on social justice, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, philanthropy, artificial intelligence, internal communications, layoffs, crisis communications and ethical business practices.

Athletic Communications Assistant

Allen University Athletic Department

Columbia, SC

        While working for Allen University’s athletic communications department, I enhanced digital storytelling for the historically Black University’s athletic programs. To support the university’s transition to the NCAA’s Division II from the NAIA, I earned local media coverage and published written content across owned media channels.

        Due to COVID-19 protocols prohibiting spectators from attending indoor athletic events on campus during the 2020-21 winter sports season, I directed digital engagement efforts with local and regional audiences. In addition to supporting virtual broadcasts of athletic competitions, I wrote 40 web recaps of men’s and women’s Yellow Jackets basketball games to promote coach and student-athlete accomplishments. I also supported event management and Southern Intercollegiate Conference statistical archives by recording real-time statistics on CBS Stat Crew Software at the scorer’s table during competitions and distributing box scores to the coaching staffs.

         After completing my position, I received my journalism school's Outstanding Public Relations Internship Award, recognizing me for utilizing the multimedia skills gained in my academic coursework and student media experiences after switching my major to public relations.

Advancement Communications Writer

          As an advancement communications writer for the University of South Carolina’s College of Information and Communications, I collaborated with the college's development and editorial teams to maintain strategic relationships with donors and alumni. Utilizing my research, interviewing, AP Style writing and Adobe InDesign skills, I produced the 2021 issue of college’s annual alumni magazine. By writing short-form content and faculty spotlight articles mailed directly to major donors, I promoted academic advancement, faculty research, alumni news and the college’s commitment to inclusion.

           Specifically, I highlighted the college’s newly-offered online Master of Mass Communications program and visual communications instructor’s podcast connecting students with creative industry professionals for networking and job search opportunities.

Sports Reporter

The Daily Gamecock

Columbia, SC

         As a multimedia reporter for the University of South Carolina's student newspaper, I provided weekly coverage of Southeastern Conference (SEC) athletics. Cumulatively, I authored 62 articles on weekly deadlines for digital and print publications reaching 63,000 subscribers. I reported on SEC football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, club ice hockey and Gamecock Baseball alumni competing in Major League Baseball. As a reporter, I performed extensive research and interviews to write engaging and informative features, columns, previews and recaps.

          When covering Gamecocks athletics and NCAA Division I events at venues, I posted live updates on X, formerly Twitter, to inform fans following on social media. For example, I live-tweeted the 2020 Palmetto Series neutral-site baseball game between South Carolina and Clemson at MLB Double AA ballpark, Segra Park.

          My student media experience strengthened my knowledge and application of AP Style to my writing, developing the necessary skills to become a more effective researcher, interviewer, writer and copy editor. This role also presented me with many opportunities to collaborate with editors and copy desk staffers to discuss weekly coverage and big-picture editorial priorities.

Camp SAY Office Associate

SAY (Stuttering Association for the Young)

East Stroudsburg, PA

          At Camp SAY, I served as a dependable role model for children (ages 6 to 18) who stutter by contributing to an environment that empowered them to enhance self-esteem and express themselves without hesitation. Additionally, I collaborated with SAY administrative and marketing leaders to coordinate confidence-building activities, manage outdoor events, distribute mail from parents, and fill in for overnight bunk counselors. 

          Providing 24-hour care to more than 200 children, I proactively communicated with camp directors and the office manager to fulfill camp-wide tasks, maximizing the experience of every child.

          Prior to the summer camp in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, I underwent a collaborative training program alongside SAY leadership and camp staff featuring modules for interpersonal communication, vertical communication, safety guidelines, conflict resolution, unconscious bias and DEI training.

            Volunteering with the University of South Carolina's literacy outreach program, I visited elementary schools throughout South Carolina with Cocky, our university's beloved mascot, and fellow volunteers. At the schools, we read children's books aloud while Cocky acted out the stories to promote childhood literacy and encourage children to become lifelong learners. 

           Since I developed my passion for learning at a young age, I enjoyed interacting with children and their caregivers and supporting higher education by being part of a young child's potential first interaction with a university.

           My customer service experience includes my hardware sales associate position at Colmar True Value Home Center. In this role, I took pride in providing exceptional service and facilitating sales by managing inventory documents, stocking merchandise, serving as cashier, operating key- and lumber-cutting machinery, mentoring employees, and delivering Weber grill and patio furniture orders to customers’ homes. 

          Holding this position on a full-time basis during my summer and winter breaks of high school through college, I demonstrated my strong work ethic, adaptability and attention to detail while maintaining the store's family-friendly reputation as part of a welcoming and helpful staff in a South Jersey shore community.
